Traditional Ceremonies of the Taita People

From: Aggrey Mtalaki

The traditional ceremonies of the Taita had music called the Mwazindika (named after the drum used).  They expressed themselves using music.  They had many forms of traditional dances.  These traditional musics are performed during the national holidays or during Christmas Eve and New Year ceremonies.  Groups of youths normally dance from house to house, singing and dancing traditional and religious songs.  These groups are normally referred to as Malaika.
