Marie Primary School

Report by Margaret Kiriro
Mwakoma, Kenya

Marie Primary School is situated at the peak of Sagalla Mountsin.  The road to the school was impassible.  The school infrastructure is poor.  The school educational performance was pathetic

All these lead to parents shifting their kids to other primary schools, no matter how far.  But when Mr. Cliff Evans and his team of BOT members visited the school back in , the school came back to life.

From the day they visited the school, the kids (Standard 1 to Standard 8 ) were only 92 but as May 2010, the total number of children is 198.

One can be surprised by the fact that the school emerged to be No.3 out of 20 schools in Voi Zone (3rd best performed school).

Now the toilets for girls have been built, water tanks have been installed.

Stationeries have been supplied and the prize giving (Kileva Award Scheme) makes children to be more competitive in their classwork.

Thus we would like to thank you all, but mostly Mr. Darren Ballard for he is the one who donated a water tank and also built a girls toilet to Marie Primary School.

Thanks Darren, may you live to be toothless.  (Maisha Marefu – long life)
